Our client is a mechanical & electrical contractor with over 45 years in the industry. Due to ongoing growth, they are seeking an electrical estimator to prepare precise and timely estimates for their projects from the pre-tender to post-tender stages.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain consistent communication with all internal and external stakeholders involved in the estimating process to maximize the company’s commercial advantage.
  • Ensure a consistent workflow to keep operations running smoothly in both Ireland and the UK.
  • Complete each tender in line with company procedures, ensuring consistency.
  • Review actual installation times post-project to assess deviations from budgeted times.
  • Collaborate with the estimating team to meet the business unit’s revenue goals by producing accurate and timely estimates.
  • Work with other employees to identify, share, and implement best practices.
  • Prepare each tender in a structured and accurate format, adhering to company policies, standards, and processes, while considering all foreseeable construction, technical, and commercial risks.
  • Produce accurate take-offs and measures of tenders, inputting data into estimating software to fully understand the project’s prime cost.
  • Evaluate enquiries to ensure the preparation and dispatch of accurate supplier and subcontractor enquiries within the required timescales.
  • Collaborate with specialist subcontractors, assess quotations, validate received information, and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Prepare product substitution and value engineering options.
  • Stay updated on market conditions, including pricing levels, competition, and workload volume, to prepare relevant and competitive estimates consistently.

 

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as an Electrical Estimator or in preparing electrical estimates.
  • Knowledge of electrical installations is advantageous but not essential.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in projects with a value of £7,000,000 upwards
  • Understanding of health and safety requirements.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
