Our client is looking for a skilled Fire Design Engineer that will play a critical role in designing and implementing fire protection systems for various projects. This includes ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and standards, conducting risk assessments, and working closely with clients and other engineering disciplines to deliver effective fire safety solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading site visits with the support of the Head of Design or a design team member and serving as the main contact for sub-contract designers.
  • Developing solution scoping technical specifications following site visits or 3D scans.
  • Working closely with sub-contractor design teams to refine the scope of works.
  • Reviewing sub-contractors’ prices and specifications for completeness, quality, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Completing Tender Technical Queries (TQs) and maintaining the Tender TQ register.
  • Assisting project and tendering teams in creating technical documentation for tender inquiries or orders.
  • Ensuring adherence to design processes and procedures in the office and on-site.
  • Assisting with documentation for fire accreditation for the GT AI Business.
  • Understanding clients' requirements through their specification documents and site visits with their representatives, determining design needs, and proposing solutions.
  • Collaborating with the Head of Design and AI delivery staff to ensure designs are value-engineered, meet client specifications, and comply with Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation.
  • Promoting innovation and challenging involved parties to ensure cost-effectiveness in design activities.
  • Providing technical input into Fire Installer/supplier subcontract orders.
  • Producing design documentation such as Detector Layouts, Zone Drawings, Cause & Effects, Loop Layouts, Loop Schematics, Fire Stopping Details, Panel Layouts, Battery Calculations, Fire Strategies, etc.
  • Contributing information to the Design Management Plan, Design Programme, and other design quality deliverables.
  • Reviewing, checking, and approving design deliverables to ensure technical accuracy and alignment with the design programme.
  • Informing the Head of Design about potential Contractual Events (CEs) and Early Warnings (EWs) related to design changes or additional works.
  • Managing design changes through the Change Control Process to avoid scope creep.
  • Assisting with the handover to the Construction Manager and Commissioning Manager.
