About the Client:

  • Our client, specialists in the Fire and Security industry, are seeking a hardworking and passionate Project Engineer based around the South East area to join their team on a permanent basis.

 

The Role:

  • Installation of Fire Detection and Alarm systems both extensions and new systems.
  • Control all aspects of project delivery from design, estimation through to final account
  • Control of Installation Teams both directly employed and subcontractor.
  • Liaise with onsite commercial/technical/operational management in order to comply with company and AWE procedures.
  • Preparation of programmes, method statements, risk assessments and company IMS and LPCB/BRE LPS1014 procedures.
  • Procure labour/materials and sub-contracts in accordance with company buying procedures ensuring waste and costs are minimised.
  • Analysis and management of financial, contractual and operational business risks to minimise or remove risk to the business.
  • Knowledgeable and control in matters relating to Health & Safety, Environment, Technical and Statutory requirements including CDM regulations and ensure compliance at all times.
  • Attendance at client contract meetings as and when required.
  • Preparation and presentation of Client Contract Reports.
  • Maintain accurate project administration files and costs (financial records).
  • Prepare project files to include all LPCB/BRE LPS1014 documentation from design certification through to verification.
  • Preparation of a monthly report for the General Manager detailing project activities.
  • Attendance at and participation in the Monthly Contract Meeting.
  • To carry out any other reasonable requests of senior management.

 

Qualities Required:

  • Extensive experience of controlling compliant Fire detection systems projects.
  • City & Guilds in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Complete understanding on design of Fire Detection and Alarm systems, conventional and Analogue Addressable.
  • FIA Units 1 (Fire Detection Design), Unit 2 (Advanced Detection Design), Unit 3 (Advanced Alarm Design)
  • 17th Edition Electrical qualification.
  • Knowledge of key operational management disciplines, e.g. quality control, work planning methods.
  • Able to design Fire systems in line with BS5839 Pt1 and LPCB/BRE LPS1014 standards.
  • IT literacy (word processing, spread sheets and project management tools)
  • Good sound knowledge and understanding with commercial and contractual issues.
