As a Senior/Project Fire Alarm Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of major commercial sites by designing and installing fire alarm systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in safeguarding lives, property, and assets.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Installation: Oversee the installation process, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards. Coordinate with subcontractors and technicians to execute installations efficiently and effectively.
  • Testing and Commissioning: Conduct thorough testing and commissioning of fire alarm systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Address any issues or deficiencies identified during testing promptly.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of system designs, installation plans, test reports, maintenance records, and service logs. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to clients and end-users on the operation and maintenance of fire alarm systems. Address any questions or concerns and offer guidance on best practices for fire safety.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing guidance, training, and support as needed. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment conducive to professional growth and development.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance measures to ensure the highest standards of workmanship and service delivery. Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary.

 

Requirements:

  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of fire alarm systems, including design principles, installation techniques, testing procedures, and maintenance practices. Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NFPA, BS, EN).
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as FIA (Fire Industry Association) qualifications, BAFE (British Approvals for Fire Equipment) certification, and manufacturer-specific training (e.g., Advanced, Hochiki, Siemens) are highly desirable.
  • Experience: Proven experience in a similar role, preferably working on major commercial projects. Demonstrated ability to manage projects from conception to completion, ensuring quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement effective solutions under pressure.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Organisational Skills: Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and precision in all aspects of work, including documentation, testing, and installation.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing project requirements, client needs, and industry developments. Willingness to stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in fire alarm engineering.
