We are recruiting for a Service Technician to join an industry-leading company covering London & the Southeast. The successful candidate will be responsible for planned preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and lifecycle component replacements on a portfolio of lifts and escalators. They will also ensure compliance with safety inspections and resolve any non-conformities in line with current legislation and standards.
This role involves improving equipment reliability, reducing technical call-backs, and minimising downtime. The candidate must adhere to all company safety and conduct procedures and provide coverage as part of an on-call rota for out-of-hours maintenance and repairs.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Carry out routine servicing of lift/escalator equipment, including minor repairs and component replacements, following approved company procedures.
• Diagnose and rectify faults to restore correct functioning after breakdowns.
• Perform routine inspections and adjustments, including checks on speed, motor function, weight, noise, temperature, and power supplies.
• Conduct advanced fault-finding and diagnostics using technical manuals, test equipment, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Attend site surveys and training sessions to maintain up-to-date technical knowledge and skills.
• Work in compliance with all UK safety and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Support company safety objectives by maintaining and monitoring current safety systems and implementing improvements where necessary.
Candidate Requirements
• NVQ Level 3 (minimum) in Lift/Escalator Maintenance or equivalent.
• Experience in lift/escalator servicing, maintenance, and repairs preferred.
• Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, including experience with multi-brand equipment.
• Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and remain flexible.
• Good communication skills with clients, service leaders, and inspectors.
• Manual dexterity – ability to use hand and power tools and perform repetitive lifting tasks.
• Strong administration skills and punctuality.
• Full UK driving licence required.
