Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver servicing, maintenance, call-outs, and remedial work across fire, security, and associated systems.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding service outcomes and any additional work required.
- Complete all assigned works in a cost-effective, efficient, and timely manner.
- Maintain van stock to maximise first-time fix rates.
- Identify non-conformances and make recommendations for remedial works.
- Complete all company documentation accurately and on time.
- Respond to emergency calls within agreed timescales.
- Support and occasionally supervise junior or trainee engineers.
- Attend required training and proactively identify personal development needs.
- Provide assistance to colleagues when required.
Key Competencies:
- Extensive experience in service-related activities (maintenance, call-outs, remedial works).
- Strong technical knowledge across fire, security, and associated disciplines.
- Systematic problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional interpersonal skills with the ability to engage at all levels.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritise effectively.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Proven industry experience with demonstrable competence.
- Strong knowledge of relevant British Standards (e.g., BS5839, SP203, SSAIB).
- Full manual UK driving licence (maximum of 6 penalty points).
- Enhanced DBS check required (to be completed before passing probation).
- Relevant technical certificates (copies required for HR records).
HR & Health & Safety:
- Follow company policies, handbook, and procedures at all times.
- Undertake all required Health & Safety training.
- Wear supplied uniform and PPE at all times.
Working Hours & Overtime:
- Standard Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 17:00 (30 min lunch break).
- Travel: First 30 minutes each way unpaid; thereafter paid as overtime.
- Overtime Rates:

Weekdays (17:00 – 00:00): Time & a Half

Weekdays (00:00 – 08:30): Double Time

Saturday: Time & a Half (until midday), Double Time thereafter

Sunday: Double Time

Bank Holidays (on call): Double Time + day in lieu
Additional Information:
- On-Call Rota: Standby fee £20 per shift, travel paid door-to-door.
- Holiday Entitlement: 22 days + statutory bank holidays (increasing annually for 5 years, up to 30 days total after 10 years).
- Stock & Tools: Specialist testing equipment supplied; basic hand tools to be provided by engineer.
- DBS & Licences: All convictions to be declared; DBS and licence checks required.
- Certificates: Copies of all relevant qualifications to be provided.
