Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Diagnose faults, attend emergency callouts, and conduct routine maintenance on fire and security systems.
- Install and commission fire alarm, CCTV, access control, and intruder alarm systems for projects of varying scales.
- Review specifications, drawings, and technical documents to ensure seamless project execution.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining strong client relationships.
- Identify sales opportunities during service visits and report potential leads to the relevant team.
- Complete all required documentation, including job sheets, work reports, and timesheets, in a timely manner.
- Adhere to health, safety, and compliance policies relevant to the role.
- Provide technical support to colleagues via phone or site visits when required.
- Maintain company-issued tools and equipment, ensuring they remain in good condition.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering best practices and professional development.
- Ensure all jobs and service visits are completed efficiently and escalate any delays or concerns.
- Keep system logbooks updated with details of work completed.
- Attend engineer meetings and training courses as required.
- Represent the company professionally, adhering to uniform and conduct standards.
- Work in a cost-effective manner, ensuring systems are left operational where possible.
Person Specification
- Experience: 2–5 years’ experience in the fire and security industry.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of BS & EN standards and the ability to install, test, and commission various systems.
- Problem-Solving: Proven ability to diagnose and resolve faults efficiently.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with clients and colleagues.
- IT Proficiency: Competent in Microsoft Office and experience with programming security and fire systems (e.g., Honeywell, Texecom, Paxton, Morley, Advanced, Kentec).
- Organisation & Time Management: Ability to manage workload effectively, meet deadlines, and prioritise tasks.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and compliance in a life safety environment.
- Customer-Facing Skills: Professional and approachable demeanour when interacting with clients.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Knowledge and adherence to industry safety regulations.
