Regional Service Manager – Life Safety & Fire Systems (Southern Region)

A specialist provider of life?safety service and maintenance solutions is seeking an experienced Regional Service Manager to lead engineering operations across London and the South. This role is central to ensuring safe, compliant and dependable service delivery across fire detection, emergency lighting and associated compliance?critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and performance?manage a regional team of service engineers and subcontractors.
- Own overall service delivery performance, ensuring planned and reactive work is resourced, prioritised and executed effectively.
- Provide clear direction to scheduling/coordination teams to maximise productivity while protecting compliance commitments and customer service levels.
- Maintain robust technical standards, ensuring consistent application of correct methods, product knowledge and engineering best practice.
- Ensure compliance with relevant British Standards and life-safety regulations, verifying documentation, reporting and close?out quality.
- Act as the primary escalation point for customer issues, driving resolution plans and safeguarding customer confidence.
- Analyse trends (defects, repeat visits, customer feedback) to identify root causes and implement continuous improvement actions.
- Conduct routine quality audits, site visits and job file reviews to uphold service excellence.
- Manage engineer 1:1s, appraisals and competency reviews, setting clear expectations and supporting development pathways.
- Maintain strong operational controls including timesheets, approvals, stock discipline and accurate job completion.
- Provide timely performance insights and management information to internal stakeholders.
- Support Account and Sales teams with technical input to protect serviceability, scope clarity and customer expectations.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding and retention of engineers as demand expands.
- Build and manage a structured training and competency plan for the regional engineering team.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven leadership experience managing a field?based service engineering team.
- Strong capability in service planning, productivity, KPIs and SLA delivery.
- Solid technical understanding of life safety systems, ideally with complex fire detection experience.
- Knowledge of relevant British Standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Calm, decisive, and accountable with strong stakeholder communication skills.
- Able to set standards, build trust and lead through clarity and consistency.
