Job Title: Fire Service & Small Works Engineer
Location: Rotherham / Sheffield / Barnsley
Salary: £38,000 – £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)


Overview

We are seeking an experienced Fire Service & Small Works Engineer to join our growing team, covering the Rotherham, Sheffield and Barnsley areas. This role is primarily fire-focused, delivering servicing, maintenance, fault finding and small works installations across a range of fire detection and alarm systems. Experience within security systems would be highly advantageous.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer who takes pride in delivering high standards of workmanship and customer service.


Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain and fault-find on fire alarm systems (conventional and addressable)

  • Carry out small works installations, upgrades and system modifications

  • Complete remedial works identified during servicing

  • Ensure all works comply with relevant British Standards and industry regulations

  • Accurately complete service reports and documentation

  • Liaise with clients on-site and provide technical advice where required

  • Support security system works where required (CCTV, access control, intruder alarms)

  • Participate in call-out rota where applicable


Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience servicing and maintaining fire alarm systems

  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills

  • Good knowledge of BS 5839 and relevant fire industry standards

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively

  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills


Desirable (Advantageous)

  • Experience with security systems (CCTV, intruder alarms, access control)

  • FIA qualifications or equivalent

  • Experience with a variety of manufacturer panels
