Role Summary
The Service & Small Works Manager will take responsibility for the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of service and small works projects up to £100,000 in value. You will coordinate labour, materials and scheduling resources, ensuring that all work is delivered to agreed timelines, budgets and technical standards. Acting as the technical escalation point, you will liaise closely with clients, suppliers and internal teams while also providing leadership to a small scheduling team. This role is crucial in maintaining service performance and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee service and small works projects up to £100,000 across fire suppression and detection systems.
  • Ensure all work is delivered in line with contractual, technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate labour, materials and scheduling to achieve efficient operational delivery.
  • Monitor project progress, identifying and resolving risks or issues relating to cost, safety, quality or timelines.
  • Maintain financial control of assigned works, including expenditure, variations and reporting.
  • Provide technical oversight and ensure compliance with legislation, industry standards and best practice.
  • Act as the technical escalation point for customer and operational queries.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers and internal teams.
  • Line-manage scheduling staff, including performance management, coaching and development.
  • Promote a culture of organisation, accountability and continuous improvement.
Key Requirements / Skills
Essential Requirements
  • 5–7 years’ experience managing service and/or small works projects.
  • Proven experience within the fire industry, specifically suppression and detection systems.
  • Strong technical understanding of relevant British Standards.
  • Knowledge of BAFE SP203?1, SP203?3, LPS 1014 and LPS 1204.
  • Previous team leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong organisational, planning and decision?making skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer?facing ability.
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel and stay away when required.
Desirable Requirements
  • Leadership or management qualification (e.g., ILM Level 5/7).
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards this.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS certification.
  • CSCS card or equivalent.
Location & Work Pattern
  • Location: Hampshire
  • Primarily site-based with travel to customer sites
  • Occasional overnight stays may be required
