Role Summary
This newly created Service and Small Works Manager role will lead the delivery of service and small works projects (typically up to £100,000) across fire suppression and detection systems. The position has responsibility for operational delivery, technical compliance, commercial performance and team leadership. It offers a high level of autonomy and the opportunity to shape and improve a key department.Key Responsibilities
- Manage service and small works projects from planning through to completion.
- Coordinate labour, materials, scheduling and resources.
- Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to required standards.
- Monitor costs, variations and overall financial performance.
- Provide technical oversight and act as an escalation point for engineers and customers.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, British Standards and industry best practice.
- Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
- Line-manage scheduling staff and support team development.
- Drive continuous improvement across service and small works operations.
Key Requirements
Essential
- Experience managing service and/or small works within the fire industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of fire suppression and fire detection systems.
- Good understanding of British Standards and Codes of Practice.
- Knowledge of BAFE SP203?1, SP203?3, LPS 1014 and LPS 1204.
- Experience with cost control and project financials.
- Previous experience supervising or leading a small team.
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel.
Desirable
- IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS.
- CSCS card or equivalent.
- Leadership or management qualification (e.g. ILM Level 5/7).
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards CEng.
