Our client, a well-established and reputable organisation within the fire protection sector, is currently seeking an experienced Sprinkler Design Engineer to join their growing team based in Willenhall. This is a permanent position offering a competitive salary (dependent on experience), a company vehicle, and the opportunity to transition to hybrid working upon successful completion of probation.

This role will be office-based initially, allowing you to integrate fully with the team and projects, with flexibility for hybrid working introduced after probation.

The Role

As a Sprinkler Design Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, compliant design solutions across a range of projects. You will work closely with internal project teams and external stakeholders to ensure designs are completed efficiently, accurately, and in line with required standards.

This position also offers the chance to support and mentor junior team members, contributing to the development of the wider design function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed designs for automatic sprinkler systems, including fire pumps, tanks, and wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems
  • Carry out hydraulic calculations using industry software (e.g. Canute) alongside manual calculations
  • Coordinate system layouts in line with building structures and other services, with consideration for cost implications
  • Attend and contribute to client-led design coordination meetings (both on-site and virtual)
  • Conduct site surveys to validate designs against real-world conditions and existing services
  • Prepare and submit 2D drawings for approval, construction, and as-built documentation
  • Ensure all designs comply with company standards, including BIM requirements
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to trainee designers on a day-to-day basis
  • Support installation teams with technical queries and design clarifications
  • Assist in the preparation of RFIs and other project documentation

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience within the fire suppression industry (minimum 5 years)
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant standards, including LPCB, NFPA, BS EN 12845, BS EN 9251, and related codes
  • LPCB certification (Basic, Intermediate, or FHC) is essential
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, with hydraulic calculation software such as Canute (FHC) being advantageous.
  • Ability to manage your own workload effectively with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills, with confidence engaging clients, stakeholders, and internal teams
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Full UK driving licence

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience
  • Company vehicle
  • Hybrid working available after successful completion of probation
  • Permanent, stable opportunity with a respected industry employer
  • Supportive team environment with opportunities to mentor and develop others
