An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Smoke Ventilation Service Engineer to join a growing Passive Fire team. This site-based role is critical to ensuring the reliability, safety, and compliance of smoke ventilation systems across varied building types.Key Responsibilities
- Service and maintain smoke ventilation systems, including AOVs, control panels, and pressure systems
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to restore full system functionality
- Conduct inspections and testing in line with BS EN 12101 and relevant fire safety standards
- Complete service reports, compliance documentation, and customer feedback forms accurately
- Liaise with clients and site teams to coordinate access and communicate findings
- Ensure all works are carried out safely and in line with health and safety regulations
- Support commissioning and handover of new smoke ventilation installations
- Maintain tools, equipment, and stock levels to ensure site readiness
Key Requirements / Skills
Essential
- Experience servicing smoke ventilation or fire safety systems
- Strong knowledge of BS 7346, BS EN 12101, and Approved Document B
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
- Good communication skills with a professional, customer-focused approach
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Electrical or mechanical qualifications (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds)
- Experience within commercial and/or residential environments
- Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS)
- CSCS card or equivalent site safety certification
