Role Summary

The Senior Fire Sprinkler Designer will be responsible for leading the design and layout of fire sprinkler systems across a diverse project portfolio, with a strong emphasis on large multi-family and mixed-use developments. This role works closely with project managers, estimators, and field teams to deliver compliant, coordinated, and constructible designs. Success in the role is defined by technical accuracy, timely delivery, and effective collaboration across stakeholders. This position plays a critical role in ensuring designs meet NFPA standards and local Authority Having Jurisdiction requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Take projects from conceptual planning through detailed technical design, layout, and approval
• Design fire sprinkler systems using AutoSPRINK software
• Prepare and manage complete sprinkler submittal packages for AHJ and client approval
• Produce fabrication lists, installation drawings, and coordinated field documentation
• Collaborate closely with project management, estimating, and installation teams
• Ensure designs comply with NFPA standards, IBC, and local jurisdictional codes
• Perform 3D modelling and clash detection using tools such as Navisworks
• Provide quality control reviews of drawings and calculations
• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and internal stakeholders
• Support and mentor junior designers where required

Key Requirements and Skills

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience as a Fire Sprinkler Designer within the fire protection industry
• Strong, hands-on experience using AutoSPRINK (heavily preferred and effectively non-negotiable)
• Minimum 5 years of fire sprinkler design experience
• NICET Level II (Water-Based Systems Layout) or higher
• Strong working knowledge of NFPA standards and local AHJ requirements
• Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines

Desirable Requirements

• Experience on large multi-family and mixed-use developments
• Prior leadership or mentoring experience
• Strong 3D coordination and clash detection experience
