About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Multi-Skilled Engineer with a strong background in electronic security systems. Experience within the fire industry is highly advantageous. The successful candidate will join a growing engineering team delivering high-quality installation, servicing, commissioning, maintenance, and remedial works across a diverse customer portfolio.

The role will primarily support clients within the Education and Local Authority sectors, with projects secured through long-standing frameworks, tenders, and referrals. Due to the nature of the sites, an Enhanced DBS Check will be required.

This is a field-based position covering a region from Newcastle to Birmingham, with most work concentrated across Sheffield and South Yorkshire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation, servicing, maintenance, fault finding, commissioning, and remedial works on electronic security system.
  • Work on a range of systems including:
    • CCTV
    • Intruder Alarms
    • Access Control
    • Intercom and Door Entry Systems
    • Gates & Barriers
  • Assist with fire alarm systems where required (installation, servicing, commissioning, and fault diagnosis).
  • Diagnose and rectify system faults efficiently and professionally.
  • Complete all required documentation, reports, and certification accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and health & safety requirements.
  • Provide excellent customer service while representing the company on client sites.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours call-out rota (1 in 6 weeks).
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment to a high standard.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience within the electronic security industry.
  • Strong knowledge of CCTV, Access Control, and Intruder Alarm systems.
  • Experience carrying out installation, servicing, maintenance, and commissioning works.
  • Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the designated coverage area.
  • Eligibility to obtain an Enhanced DBS clearance.

Desirable

  • Experience working on fire alarm systems.
  • FIA qualifications or equivalent fire industry training.
  • Experience working within education, local authority, or public sector environments.
  • Knowledge of current British Standards and industry regulations.
  • ECS/CSCS card.
  • IPAF and/or PASMA certification.
