Role Summary

The Building Services Design Engineer will support the delivery of mechanical and electrical building services designs across multiple projects, from concept through to detailed design and construction support. Working closely with senior engineers, clients, and wider project teams, the role focuses on producing robust technical solutions and maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. This position offers strong long-term development and progression opportunities within a supportive consultancy environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce building services design calculations and technical analyses in line with project requirements and current standards
  • Assist in the development and coordination of mechanical and electrical design solutions
  • Support project delivery across a range of sectors and building types
  • Undertake site surveys and inspections to gather technical information and assess existing services
  • Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and other consultants to understand and coordinate project requirements
  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations, legislation, and best practice
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through learning, innovation, and collaboration within the team

Key Requirements

Essential Requirements
  • Experience within a building services engineering consultancy or contractor environment
  • Good understanding of mechanical and or electrical building services systems
  • Ability to produce or support design calculations and technical documentation
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Proactive approach to learning and professional development
Desirable Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience using industry-standard building services design software
  • Site experience and client-facing exposure
