The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Fire Engineering professional to join their growing team at Associate Director level.

This is an opportunity for someone looking to play a genuine leadership role within a highly respected consultancy, where they can influence strategy, support team development, and help shape the future direction of the business. Unlike many senior positions within larger organisations, this role offers real visibility, autonomy, and the ability to make a meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery and quality assurance of complex, high-profile fire engineering projects across a range of sectors.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers at all levels.
  • Mentor and support the professional development of team members.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
  • Contribute to business development activities and support the growth of new and existing client relationships.
  • Assist with recruitment, resource planning, succession planning, and team growth initiatives.
  • Contribute to business strategy and operational improvements.
  • Remain up to date with developments in UK fire legislation, building safety regulations, and industry best practice.

Requirements

Essential

  • Significant experience within a fire engineering consultancy environment (typically around 10+ years, although quality and breadth of experience are valued more than a specific number of years).
  • Proven track record delivering fire strategies and complex fire engineering solutions.
  • Strong understanding of UK fire engineering legislation, regulations, and the wider building safety landscape.
  • Experience leading or supporting technical teams.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and stakeholder communication skills.

Desirable

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or actively working towards chartership.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Commercial awareness and project management experience.
  • Experience supporting business development activities, proposals, or bid submissions.

What's on Offer

  • Senior leadership position with genuine influence and visibility.
  • Opportunity to help shape the growth and direction of the fire engineering team.
  • Exposure to complex and high-profile projects across multiple sectors.
  • Collaborative and supportive working environment.
  • Competitive salary package of £80,000 - £120,000 depending on experience.
