Commissioning Engineer | Competitive salary | National role with site-based work across various locations
An experienced Commissioning Engineer is required to install, test, and commission specialist ventilation and control systems across national project sites. This role focuses on ensuring systems are fully operational, compliant with technical specifications, and delivered to the highest safety standards.
You will work closely with project teams, contractors, and clients, taking a lead role in commissioning activities while supporting junior team members. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled engineer seeking variety, responsibility, and career progression.Key Responsibilities
- Lead the installation and commissioning of electrical and control systems
- Carry out commissioning of ventilation systems, dampers, and control equipment in line with design specifications
- Test, fault-find, and resolve issues to ensure full system functionality and compliance
- Interpret and work from electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Ensure all systems meet regulatory standards and safety requirements
- Collaborate with project teams and contractors to support smooth project delivery
- Support integration with fire alarm systems and building management systems
- Manage workload and commissioning schedules to meet project deadlines
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers or apprentices where required
- Maintain clear documentation and reporting throughout project delivery
Key Requirements / Skills
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in commissioning or installation within building services or a related sector
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
- Level 3 Electrical Qualification
- 18th Edition (BS 7671)
- ECS or CSCS Card
- Knowledge of electrical safety and safe isolation procedures
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel nationally and stay away when required
Desirable Requirements
- Experience with specialist ventilation or control systems
- Knowledge of fire alarm interfaces and cause and effect testing
- Experience with system-specific platforms (training can be provided)
- IPAF or PASMA certification
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
