Lead the successful delivery of fire systems projects from initial planning through to completion. The successful candidate will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in full compliance with statutory regulations, client requirements, and industry standards.

This is a fire-biased role focused on fire detection, alarm, suppression and life safety systems. Experience within the security sector would be beneficial but is not essential, as support and development can be provided for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning, coordination and delivery of fire systems projects, including new installations, upgrades, refurbishments and remedial works.
  • Develop and maintain project programmes, budgets and resource plans to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Conduct site surveys, technical reviews and risk assessments to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, British Standards and client specifications.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including method statements, risk assessments, progress reports and client communications.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate the procurement of equipment and materials, ensuring products meet project specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and undertake regular site inspections to ensure quality, safety and compliance standards are achieved.
  • Identify project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure all fire systems are installed and commissioned in accordance with current British Standards and industry best practice.
  • Support project commissioning, testing, handover documentation and client training where required.
  • Where applicable, oversee the integration of security systems as part of wider life safety projects.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience managing fire systems projects.
  • Strong knowledge of fire detection, fire alarm and life safety systems.
  • Good understanding of relevant British Standards, including BS 5839 and associated fire safety regulations.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and design documentation.
  • Excellent project management, organisational and communication skills.
  • Experience managing project budgets, programmes and subcontractors.
  • Competent in preparing risk assessments and method statements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience delivering integrated fire and security projects.
  • Knowledge of CCTV, access control and intruder alarm systems.
  • Familiarity with security-related standards such as BS EN 50131.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Fire industry qualifications such as FIA training, FPA courses or NEBOSH Fire Certificate.
  • Project management qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2, APMP or equivalent).
  • Membership of a recognised professional body such as the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) or the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM).

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a motivated Project Manager with a strong background in fire systems who takes pride in delivering high-quality projects and building lasting client relationships. If you have experience in security systems, that's a bonus, but it's certainly not a requirement. We're more interested in finding someone with excellent project management skills, a solid understanding of fire systems, and the drive to deliver exceptional results.
