East Midlands / permanent / £42,000 Per annum
Small Works Engineer | East Midlands (Nottingham / Derby / Leicester / Lincolnshire), with regional travel up to Manchester | Up to £42,000 basic + overtime, call-out and benefits (OTE circa £46,000–£47,000)

Key Responsibilities
Installation & Commissioning- Install and commission fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, door-entry systems, and associated safety equipment
- Interpret site drawings, plans, and technical specifications
- Complete cabling, equipment installation, system set-up, testing, and certification
- Replace faulty emergency lighting systems
- Diagnose and resolve system faults efficiently
- Participate in a call-out rota with additional pay
- Maintain accurate service records and reports
- Liaise with clients to understand requirements and provide technical guidance
- Work alongside project managers, surveyors, subcontractors, and office teams
- Support and mentor junior engineers where required
- Ensure all work meets current British Standards
- Follow health & safety procedures, including risk assessments and PPE usage
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and stock
- Keep system software/firmware up to date
- Use mobile devices/software for scheduling and reporting
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience within small works, installation, or service engineering (fire, security, telecoms, AV or similar)
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong fault-finding and technical reporting skills
- Good communication and customer-facing approach
- Able to work independently and travel regionally
- IT literate (service systems, reporting tools, email)
Desirable
- First Aid, IPAF, PASMA
- Relevant fire industry qualifications
- Manufacturer training (e.g. major fire/security system brands)
