We are seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance services across a portfolio of commercial mechanical systems. This role will oversee service operations, manage engineering resources, maintain strong client relationships, and ensure exceptional service standards are achieved.The successful candidate will play a key role in driving operational performance, improving system efficiency, supporting business growth, and ensuring clients receive a consistently high level of service. Working closely with engineers, subcontractors, project teams, and customers, you will be instrumental in maintaining service excellence and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive service operations.
- Coordinate engineer and subcontractor schedules to ensure efficient resource allocation and service delivery.
- Oversee the performance and development of service engineers and subcontractor partners.
- Provide technical guidance and support to engineering teams, assisting with the resolution of service and maintenance issues.
- Produce and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Conduct regular site visits to support operational activities, client engagement, and quality assurance.
- Manage service administration, including service reports, job records, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare quotations for remedial, upgrade, and additional works.
- Oversee procurement activities to ensure materials and resources are available for both planned and critical works.
- Monitor client KPI platforms and service management systems to ensure performance targets are achieved.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, supply chain partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in a Service Manager, Service Supervisor, Maintenance Manager, or similar leadership role within mechanical building services.
- Strong understanding of commercial heating, HVAC, facilities management, or mechanical maintenance environments.
- Experience coordinating both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
- Demonstrable experience leading engineers, subcontractors, and service delivery teams.
- Strong client-facing skills with the ability to build and maintain long-term professional relationships.
- Experience producing quotations, managing resources, and overseeing service budgets.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.
- IOSH Managing Safely or similar health and safety qualification.
- Experience using service management software and client KPI reporting platforms.
- Previous experience within commercial building services or facilities engineering environments.
