The Opportunity
An established construction contractor is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of refurbishment and fit-out projects.
Working alongside the operational and commercial teams, you will manage subcontract packages, monitor project expenditure and help maintain commercial control throughout each project’s lifecycle. The position offers a varied workload across office and project environments, with responsibility from procurement through to final account.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce quantity take-offs from drawings to support procurement, subcontractor valuations and variation pricing.
- Complete site measurements and verify completed works.
- Review invoices against agreed purchase orders and project costs.
- Support the selection, assessment and appointment of subcontractors.
- Prepare and issue tender enquiries to the supply chain.
- Analyse subcontractor quotations and tender returns.
- Prepare subcontract agreements and purchase orders covering labour, materials and preliminaries.
- Take commercial responsibility for subcontract packages from initial procurement through to final account.
- Review subcontractor applications and assess payments.
- Identify, value and manage client and subcontractor variations.
- Maintain accurate cost records and support project reporting and forecasting.
- Monitor warranties, appointments and associated documentation through to execution.
- Attend subcontractor, project and internal commercial meetings.
- Assist with tenders through measurement, supplier engagement, pricing and analysis.
- Previous Quantity Surveying experience gained within a main contractor or specialist contracting environment.
- Experience supporting refurbishment, fit-out or wider construction projects.
- A good understanding of recognised measurement standards, including NRM.
- Knowledge of common construction contracts, including JCT and NEC.
- Understanding of different procurement routes and subcontract arrangements.
- Experience managing subcontract packages and commercial documentation.
- Competence with measurement software such as Bluebeam or an equivalent platform.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
- Confidence using commercial databases and project-management systems.
- Excellent numerical, analytical and organisational ability.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- A thorough, methodical approach with strong attention to detail.
- Proactive, dependable and keen to develop within a growing commercial team.
- Salary of £50-£60,000 depending on experience
