Fire Alarm Installation & Commissioning Engineer | M1 and M40 corridor | Up to £45,000 basic

We are seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join our Projects Team, covering the M1 and M40 corridor. The role involves the installation, commissioning, testing, and handover of fire alarm systems across a variety of commercial and industrial projects.

Working closely with Project Managers, clients, and subcontractors, you will ensure all systems are delivered to the highest standards of quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled engineer looking to join a growing specialist contractor with a strong reputation in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install fire alarm systems in accordance with specifications, drawings, and relevant standards.
  • Commission conventional, addressable, and networked fire alarm systems.
  • Conduct testing, validation, and system handovers to clients.
  • Complete fault finding and rectification during installation and commissioning phases.
  • Ensure all work complies with BS5839 and current fire industry regulations.
  • Liaise with Project Managers, site managers, contractors, and clients throughout project delivery.
  • Complete all commissioning certificates, test documentation, and electronic records accurately.
  • Support system upgrades, modifications, and small works projects when required.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.
  • Maintain excellent customer relationships and provide professional onsite representation for the business.

Key Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience installing and commissioning fire alarm systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of BS5839 and current fire safety regulations.
  • Experience with leading fire alarm manufacturers such as Gent, Advanced, Kentec, Morley, C-Tec, Notifier, Siemens, or equivalent.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and cause and effect documentation.
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple project sites.
  • Demonstrable track record within a similar installation and commissioning role.

Desirable Requirements

  • FIA qualifications or relevant fire industry training.
  • Knowledge of emergency lighting systems.
  • Experience working on large-scale commercial, industrial, healthcare, or education projects.
  • ECS/CSCS card.
  • IPAF or PASMA certification.
  • Experience commissioning networked fire alarm systems.

Location & Work Pattern

Location: M1 and M40 Corridor (covering areas including Milton Keynes, Northampton, Oxford, High Wycombe, Coventry, Luton and surrounding regions).
Work Pattern: Full-time, field-based role.
