Security & Access Control Commissioning Engineer

Role Summary

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join a growing team working across the UK water and critical infrastructure sectors.
You'll be responsible for commissioning, configuring, testing and fault-finding security and access control systems across treatment works, pumping stations, reservoirs and other operational sites. This is a hands-on, field-based role working closely with installation teams, project managers and end clients to ensure systems are delivered to specification and ready for handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commission and test security and access control systems across water industry and critical infrastructure sites.
  • Configure equipment in line with project specifications and client requirements.
  • Conduct fault-finding, diagnostics and performance testing prior to handover.
  • Work closely with installation engineers, project managers and customers throughout project delivery.
  • Complete commissioning records, test documentation and handover paperwork.
  • Deliver client demonstrations and provide operational support during project completion.
  • Ensure systems operate safely, efficiently and in accordance with industry standards.
  • Travel to sites nationwide, including occasional overnight stays where required.

Key Requirements

Essential

  • Experience as a Commissioning Engineer or similar field-based engineering role.
  • Hands-on experience with security, access control or electronic systems.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of IP-based and networked security systems.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Experience within the water, utilities or critical infrastructure sectors.
  • Previous involvement with AMP projects or water company frameworks.
  • Knowledge of major access control and security platforms.
  • Experience with CCTV, ANPR, perimeter security and intercom systems.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking.
  • ECS, CSCS or equivalent site accreditation.
