We are delighted to be partnering with a global leader in fire and life safety solutions to recruit a Business Development Manager to drive growth across their commercial fire detection portfolio in the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially focused sales professional with proven experience in the fire detection sector to join a market-leading organisation.

The role offers a blend of strategic business development, specification sales, and project engagement, working with consultants, architects, contractors, OEMs, end users, and system integrators to increase market share and develop new revenue streams.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Regional Country Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities across the UK, with a particular focus on large-scale and strategic projects at the early specification stage.

You'll play a key role in expanding the adoption of advanced fire detection technologies, strengthening relationships with key stakeholders, and supporting the wider sales team in achieving ambitious growth objectives.

This position is ideally suited to someone based in Southern England, although flexible working arrangements are available. Extensive UK travel should be expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow sales of commercial fire detection systems across the UK market.
  • Build and maintain relationships with consultants, architects, contractors, distributors, OEMs, system integrators, insurers, and end users.
  • Identify and influence projects from concept through to completion.
  • Drive specification activity and position solutions as the preferred choice within project designs.
  • Introduce and promote new technologies and high-value product solutions.
  • Prepare and follow up quotations, proposals, and commercial offers.
  • Maintain accurate customer and project records using Salesforce CRM.
  • Deliver customer presentations, CPD sessions, training seminars, and technical workshops.
  • Collaborate with regional sales teams and cross-functional colleagues to maximise opportunities.
  • Support the wider sales organisation in achieving revenue and gross margin targets.
  • Manage territory plans and customer engagement activities within agreed budgets.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven track record in business development and specification sales within the fire detection industry.
  • Strong understanding of commercial fire detection systems and their application.
  • Experience selling to consultants, main contractors, distributors, system integrators, and end users.
  • Knowledge of UK fire detection standards and industry regulations.
  • Demonstrated success in influencing project specifications and securing new business opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and manage a large geographical territory.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office applications and CRM systems.
