The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer to take ownership of small works projects, carrying out the installation and commissioning of fire and life safety systems. You will work both independently and as part of a wider team, delivering high-quality solutions across a range of client sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Installing, configuring, and commissioning fire, life safety, and security systems
- Conducting regular site inspections to identify and mitigate potential safety risks
- Interpreting and working from technical drawings to ensure project requirements are met
- Testing and troubleshooting systems to ensure optimal performance
- Providing end-user training on system operation
- Acting as a technical specialist on site
- Ensuring full compliance with health & safety standards and industry regulations
- Identifying opportunities to enhance system compliance and performance
About You
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with fire systems such as Notifier, Gent, and Advanced
- Familiarity with protocols including Apollo and Hochiki
- Experience with emergency lighting, disabled refuge, and disabled alarm systems
- Previous experience in a similar role, or a background in installation/service engineering
- Solid understanding of relevant standards and regulations
- Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- Knowledge of security systems (advantageous)
- Experience working with multiple communication protocols from different manufacturers
- Good understanding of fire and life safety codes of practice and construction safety regulations
